What happens when I move into a new bedroom is always the same: I am so overwhelmed by the blank and sterile walls that entrap me.
But, those blank and sterile walls never last for long.
Here are my best decorating tips that I use to take desolate, white dorm or apartment rooms from boring to beautiful.
In a cool way, string photos onto your wall
Now, I’m not talking about a boring string and some paper clips, here. Use your imagination, people: clip meaningful photos and memorabilia onto beautiful gold-toned wire using wooden clips. If you want to go a little farther, use colored clips, white, or matching gold ones.
Put up colorful pieces of art
But, I’m not talking just any piece of art; it could be the art history buff in me but, one of my favorite ways to decorate a room is to hang out colorful pieces of famous pieces of art. Few things do a better job at spicing up a plain, white wall. Plus, having pieces of art in your room will make people believe you are a cultured, and worldly individual.
Stack books and flowers atop any table
You see the table in the photo? Here’s a secret: I purchased it just so I could decorate it. Try to occupy an empty space in your room with a small little table topped with good-looking books and perhaps a flower vase. Think of this as a display that you can also place random things like keys on when you need to.
Put jewelry in pretty cups and bowls
Here, pretty bowls and cups from places like Anthropologie double as an aesthetically-pleasing way to store your jewelry and other accessories. So, instead of stashing your sunglasses away in a drawer, nicely arrange them in a ceramic bowl and place it on your dresser.
Dot desks and tables with meaningful knick-knacks
Fill even the most simple spaces on your desk up with small, meaningful knick-knacks. For instance, I spiced the corner of my desk up with not only a picture frame, but with three little things I have collected from my travels. Not only does my desk look 100x better, but when ever I have a second to look up from working on my computer, I am immediately reminded of incredible memories I have made over the years.
