After living by D.C. for a year and a half, and with a stomach constantly craving good food, I am confident I can share with you some of the most delicious places in the city.
From getting lunch, to dinner, or to a sweet treat, I’ve done it all. Though I’ve yet to come across a particularly awful restaurant, there are definitely some locales I keep going back to.
If you’re in the D.C. area, or about to be, and are looking for a place that will make your taste buds sing songs of worship, lemme help you out a little bit…
Pizza is pretty hard to mess up, but how about messing up pizza that is completely customizable? Impossible. &pizza, which is super conveniently located right off of the U Street metro station, has a huge selection of just about everything, ranging from different doughs to toppings. This is definitely one of my favorite lunch or dinner spots in D.C. when I’m looking for something casual because the seating inside is very limited.
Owned by leading American chef Michael Schlow, Tico always brings its A-game. Situated in the super-hip U Street area, Tico is a particularly great spot for brunch. This hotspot with a “Latin American influence” has huge variety of eggs (mmm my favorite) and cocktails like the Hibiscus Margarita. Plus, the atmosphere is one of the coolest I’ve ever been in.
Dean & Deluca
Walking up and down M Street in Georgetown can make a girl hungry. This has happened to me one too many times and I usually don’t feel like emptying my pockets for grub at posh lunch spots that line the street. Enter Dean and Deluca. You open the doors and feel like you’re in an indoor farmer’s market of sorts, except Farmer John selling his meat has been replaced by Chef Francois who offers you a sample of his most special seasoned turkey breast. This place is part upscale grocery shop, part take-it-to-go food joint.
Washington Plaza Hotel
All you can eat breakfast buffet for $13? What’s not to love. I’m pretty sure you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to take advantage of this amazing deal. The omelettes here are made on-demand and are loaded (I actually couldn’t finish mine and I’m obsessed with omelettes) with whatever your heart desires. They also have bagels and lox, oatmeal with a variety of toppings and free coffee re-fills. This hotel knows the true meaning of breakfast.
You think that’s the end? HA.
Look forward to Part 2 on the way! This is what happens when a girl loves to eat and explore.
But, if anyone has been to any of these mentioned above, I’d love to hear your opinions on it in the comments below!
